Wheelchair Accessibility

Please be aware that some exhibitions of KYOTOGRAPHIE are held in temples, machiya, or historical buildings, and therefore may not be accessible to wheelchair users. 00 | KYOTOGRAPHIE Information Lounge & Books | Sanjo Ryogaemachi Building

From the entrance, you can access the cash register and merchandise sales. However, the venue does not have elevators. Therefore the Pop-up Book Shop, Pop-up Exhibition, and KG+ SELECT exhibitions are only accessible via stairs. Thank you for your understanding.

01 | Erwin Olaf | The Museum of Kyoto Annex

There is a wheelchair-friendly ramp located approximately 40 meters south of the Takakura-dori main entrance. You can enter the annex from the main entrance. However, the second floor of the exhibition is accessible only via stairs.

02 | MEP Studio | HOSOO GALLERY

There is a dedicated wheelchair entrance located to the left of the main entrance. However, you will need to be guided by a staff member. There is also an elevator to the 2nd-floor venue, which people with walking difficulties and pushchairs can also use.

03 | MIROIRS – Manga meets CHANEL Collaboration with Kaiu Shirai & Posuka Demizu

There is a high step at the exhibition space entrance in the Chikuin-no-Ma Room, making it difficult for wheelchairs to enter. However, the step at the Kurogura is lower, so wheelchairs can enter if the on-site staff can assist. Please make sure to give advance notice if in need of assistance.

04|Richard Collasse | Nijo-jo Castle Tonan Sumi-yagura (Southeast Watchtower)

Due to the steep stone steps leading to the exhibition, wheelchair users will not be able to access the venue. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

05 | Atsunobu Katagiri | Nijo-jo Castle Ninomaru Palace Daidokoro Kitchen

Unfortunately, due to the dangerous stairs at the entrance of the indoor exhibition space, wheelchair users can only view the entrance area and are not permitted into the main exhibition room. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

9a | Ngadi Smart | flying tiger copenhagen Kyoto Kawaramachi Store 3F

Please be aware that the exhibition is on the third floor of the building, which does not have an elevator. We apologize for the inconvenience.

9b | Ngadi Smart | Demachi Masugata Shopping Arcade, DELTA/KYOTOGRAPHIE Permament Space

Due to the dangerous stairs leading to the basement at the exhibition entrance, wheelchair access is not permitted. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Parts of the exhibition are visible from the outside.

10 | Yingfei Liang | Sfera

The elevators in Sfera can be used to access the exhibition hall on the 3rd floor. However, wheelchair visitors will need to be attended by the on-site staff; therefore, if you have someone accompanying you, they can come to the 3rd floor to seek assistance. Alternatively, you can also contact the KYOTOGRAPHIE office in advance. (TEL 075-708-7108)

11 | David Shrigley | ASPHODEL

The exhibition is on the first through third floors. However, the second and higher floors are only accessible by a narrow staircase, so wheelchair users are unfortunately not permitted to enter these floors. You can enter the pop-up store on the first floor, but please be careful as there are steps at the entrance.

12 | Thomas Dhellemmes | Ryosokuin Temple (Kennin-ji Temple)13 | Yuna Yagi | Ryosokuin Temple (Kennin-ji Temple)

There are two stone steps from the Kenninji temple grounds to the Ryosokuin reception desk, which will require you to lift your wheelchair up. As the exhibition hall is divided into tatami mats and corridors, you will have to look inside from the entrance. We are very sorry, but even though the KYOTOGRAPHIE Map has a "wheelchair accessible" sign on it, most of the exhibition is not accessible by wheelchair. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

14 | RongRong&inri | Outdoor Space of Lake Biwa Canal Museum

You can use the elevator at the Biwako Sosui Memorial Museum to access the underground exhibition site. Please ask at the KYOTOGRAPHIE reception desk for a staff member to guide you. Please note that wheelchair access to the exhibition space in the drum factory is not permitted due to the dangerous stairs at the entrance. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
