Let’s take photos and create an artwork reflecting on the unique athmosphere through the history of the Shotengai. [ENG/JP]

Echoes of the Shotengai
Through this Workshop Kids will connect the past and the present to make a creative photography artwork.

After exploring Artist Ngadi's collages - mixes of her self-portrait and old pictures of the famous Demachi Masugata shotengai (Shopping Arcade) - the kids will create their own original artwork using old pictures of the shotengai combined with the pictures they will shoot during the workshop.

They will discover the history and the cultural impotance of Shotengai’s in Japan and of the Masugata strip in particular - meeting with the historian Arima Keiko in the company of Ogaya san, the head of the Masugata Shotengai.

Fee: ¥2000
The workshop is recommended for children above 6 years old

What to bring:
KYOTOGRAPHIE will provide cameras but Kids can bring (under their own responsability) their own cameras if they want.

Shinzo OGAYA
He is the owner of Ogaya Clock Shop in the Demachi Masugata Shopping Arcade. And he is the chairman of Demachi Masugata Shopping Arcade. He is also the head of "the Demachi Firefly Association" and an expert on the ecology of fireflies in the Kamogawa River. There are not only watches and glasses in the store, there are also interesting insects and pupae.
Keiko ARIMA
Born in 1976. Currently a doctoral student at the Graduate School of Core Ethics and Frontier Sciences, Ritsumeikan University. She is a Research Fellow of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. Since she was put in charge of the Demachi Masugata Shopping Arcade at last year's KYOTOGRAHIE, She has grown to love the shopping arcade. She goes there at least three times a week now.
